the cover might be the best song on here. or scott street / demi moore / funeral. fuck all of it is so good. but the cover is truly haunting
Yeah, now people can see why I said I was left in a trance with it on repeat one solitary evening. It's just so fucking good, made it completely fresh and her own.
This album is gut-wrenching. But absolutely beautiful. I'm into my third listen and can't come up with anything better to describe it yet. It's just, wow. I'm blown away. I can't even come close to picking a favorite yet - the entire thing is phenomenal.
This is my first time listening to her and I've made it through Track 3 on the record and holy shit, this is amazing! Definitely don't listen right before going out like I'm doing though haha!
I quite like the new versions of Killer and Georgia. They bring something new to the mix without ruining either version. When I first heard Motion Sickness a month or so ago I was a bit meh, but that songs has really grown on me. Great album - just wish my pre-order would hurry up and get here!
New version is way better imo Maybe helps that I probably only heard the original like once before the album released Also, I likelihood of this being in my top 3 for the year is high, after only hearing it twice
I think it's good. I like that there's a different dynamic and a totally new version of it in existence. I also love that the vocals are quite the contrast to her own, it surprised me on first listen too but now I really enjoy it. I legit haven't stopped listening to this album since I got a copy, it's a real contender for the top spot for me in my arbitrary list. How's it sitting with anyone else's "lists"?
i just wonder if we would even be having this debate if we hadn't heard the old version of killer? like if it just released new version without previous would it not stand out so much in people's minds? anyways i really like it but i def seem to be in the minority here.
Which Kozelek version did you listen to? I honestly prefer the one he did with Jimmy Lavelle. Might like Phoebe's the most though. God this album is so good.
I've never heard the original version of Killer and the male vocals still stand out as not great to me. Doesn't "ruin the song" or whatever but I do wish they were mixed in a little quieter or not there at all
