This is insane good and now I just want her to play this on Saturday along with everything else she's ever done
So a couple pages ago we agreed to make sure we aren't holding out on fellow Phoebe fans if we have a track we think not everybody has heard. I think we were discussing "Waiting Room". I just searched the thread and realized nobody has ever posted about her cover of "Prayer in Open D" by Emmylou Harris..... I hope to blow some minds rn. A truly beautiful song and she nails it and then some.
I actually made a playlist today of everything she's got under her name on Spotify aside from the album. I normally don't listen to one off tracks so this helps me A couple of the songs are just things she did backing vocals on but still worth listening to
Last night was so incredible ppl :’) I know I’ve said this so much but Stranger In The Alps is already a top 10 album for me and it just means so much to me. It was so surreal seeing her and her band perform these songs, it’s a show I’ll never forget. It’s also like a bucket list thing for me to see one of my favorite albums performed in its entirety, and even though it wasn’t in order, I still count last night. We got all of Stranger In The Alps, as well as Steam Roller, Waiting Room and the Sheryl Crow cover. I really don’t even know what else to say about the show. You Missed My Heart was the first encore song and that was a show highlight for me. It’s one of my favorite songs off of the album and when the show ended and it wasn’t played i was like okay we better get an encore. They came back on an when they started You Missed My Heart I about lost it. Phoebe was just on vocals while her piano player (I’m sorry I forgot his name!!!!) played. She slowly paced back and forth on the stage while singing and it almost made it feel like she was actually living out or explaining this insane story that she actually went through. At the end of the song when the person is dying in the song she say down on the stage and there was like an added measure of “awe” in the room I don’t really know how to explain it, it was just really intense. Other highlights were the end of Georgia, the added full band section in Funeral, the insane note she held in Motion Sickness that was maybe the longest belter note I’ve ever heard live, and uh... literally the whole trash of the set. Being someone who doesn’t get as many shows as some of y’all because of where I live I was beyond extremely grateful to be able to see an artist with music that means so much to me at such a cool time in their career.
She held out that note from Motion Sickness at EXC last weekend for what felt like 2 minutes. Glad it lived up to your expectations dude!! Bon Iver and Phoebe in the span of a couple months! You're killing it
Uuuugh I’m just so happy. Me and my wife were saying how nuts this summer has been for shows for us - Bon Iver, Mount Eerie, and Phoebe. Like I saw saw literally one of my favorite albums ever in its entirety!!!!!
Still a bit bummed I had to miss that show but happy that @incognitojones was able to enjoy it in my stead
Yeah, she’s incredible live. I also feel like y’all better catch her in these intimate rooms while ya can, because once the next album is out I’m sure she’ll be playing bigger shows.
any of them will sound great coming from her Friday is way outside her norm so I'm really curious to hear that
