I legit can't narrow it down but favourites are definitely "Smoke Signals", "Motion Sickness", "Funeral", "Scott Street" and "You Missed My Heart" haha. edit: ...and new "Georgia".
Scott Street gets better each time I hear it. “I asked you how is your sister I heard she got her degree And I said “that makes me feel old” You said “what does that make me” I asked you how was playing drums You said “it’s too much shit to carry” And what about the band? You said “they’re all getting married’” That hits me good. My favorites are “Smoke Signals”, “Funeral”, “Scott Street” and “Would You Rather”
i've already said it but smoke signals is far and away the best track on the album and even from the subjective experience of each person's unique slice of consciousness i don't see how you can argue otherwise like that shit is as good as isbell at his best (yea i said it what you see as hyperbole i see as truth). it made feel like i lived another lifetime. i don't know i'm usually not so ferocious with my music opinions but i just love it so much
Yeah, "Smoke Signals" is easily the best song on here to me. It transports me every time. That said, "Would You Rather" is definitely the one that I keep humming to myself all day.
I've been absolutely enamored with this. "Smoke Signals" is far and away my favorite (I'm planning a tattoo around some of the lyrics, even). I love everything about the album. There's just so much potential in Phoebe as an artist. I can't wait to see where she goes.
Was just contemplating that today. That's so great! Totally agree with you as well. What lyrics are you thinking of for the tattoo? Just words on their own or as part of an image too?
Imagery, tho I would maybe tattoo the whole thing on my forehead (kidding). I'm thinking of a hatchet in a tree stump with lavender growing around it. I'm terrible at art, so I need to meet with an artist to actually draw it, but I think I'll get it on one of my ankles. I just burst out laughing at work, thank you for this.
Really enjoying this record, especially lyrically, but the rest of it doesn't stick out to me like "Smoke Signals" did which is kind of a bummer. It's absolutely great, just not the instant AOTY that I thought it could be. Of course, it'll only get better with time.
