    Finally finally catching up with this album. Has a song more beautiful than Graceland Too been released this year? No, no there has not.

    Yeah, I get that it’s a more imagistic and less literal way of writing for her and was a “single”, but the song is kind of generic melodically and it doesn’t actually capture what’s best about her lyrics. It’s probably in my bottom 2(?) not including “DVD Menu”.

    The idea that a song as heartbreakingly perfect as “Chinese Satellite” isn’t getting celebrated is very sad to me, but at the same time it’s nice for my favorite song to remain mine in that way. (Even though it seems to be a high performing consensus pick around here.)

    I love Chinese Satellite but it definitely seems like there are more than a few people here who hold it in higher regard than I do. It wouldn’t make my top 5.

    I think about that song and start to tear up, it’s that powerful. it kinda has to be my fav song by her at this point.

    It's easily my favorite, but I'm also a big Bright Eyes fan, and the song sounds like Phoebe singing a Bright Eyes song. Which also makes sense because all three members of the band worked on it

    “I Know The End” is as good a production as you’ll find. But as a SONG? “Chinese Satellite” is the best thing anyone released this year. Maybe in a few years.

    I Know the End is probably in the middle/bottom half of Punisher for me. And I adore the album.
