Strange bit about her name up top lol but I really like where he went with a lot of that! “My biggest fear of doing this review at all, is that I don’t think it’s an album you can listen to 3-4 times and give a review — this feels like an album that becomes a part of your life” is so fucking apt though. Like of course that can be said for a lot of records, but Punisher in particular immediately feels like a record that we’ll be talking about forever, and writing about decades from now with prestigious regard
dont think marshall was ever married. i think its about someone else she's played music with alot but i could be completely wrong.
I think you’re right for a lot of reasons. I just know so many people on the internet (no in here as far as I can tell) are hellbent are making them out to be a thing, which is pretty annoying
its one thing to write two songs like graceland, too and i know the end, but then to put them back to back to end an album is absolute sociopath behavior lol, my heart.
The image of that duo is so repulsive to me that it prevents me from laughing at all of the quality jokes out there that are based on their pics. Her line came the closest to causing me to chuckle.
This is my first time listening outside of a few singles and this was a really enjoyable first listen, feels like an album that will only grow but was easily accessible on first listen which is a rare combo
Every time Punisher (the song) comes on, I have to remind myself I'm not listening to Julien Baker lol. I mean that in a good way and I know they're friends
Yeah, I posted and deleted a comment about it in this thread a few weeks ago. Just not worth having the conversation.
this album has had the heaviest replay for me since american football lp3. i can't stop listening and have a new favorite song every time.
Going to listen to Elliott Smith then I need to overcompensate for dummy 15 year old me who couldn't get into singer songwriter-y stuff
I'm sure I will! My mom randomly picked up From a Basement on the Hill at a media library a long time ago, and I remember passively liking it. edit: Or Either/Or, not sure why I'm conflating the artworks for both. Perhaps I've actually heard the former as well.
Really enjoying this. Punisher and I Know The End are the early standouts. Something about Halloween keeps me coming back too.
