Okay, Jenny Lewis has some good solo work. I just think between ‘Ruminations’ and BOCC, Oberst ended the 2010s on a high.

Oh! I thought about this the whole weekend (as I mainly sit here during work days) and I'm glad I went back a few pages and noticed somebody had that same farfetched impression hahah. I mean - some people here said these moments made them feel like it was already there in their body, like a long-gone feeling, and as I felt the same I focused on it a bit and recognized it's the same feeling I got when I heard "Konstantine" or "Cavanaugh Park" etc., which is weird but so good!

Well, somebody has mentioned that album already, but I'd recommend to everybody to check out Empty Country after CEG's demise, it rules and also shares that Sufjan vibe to be found on Punisher at times too ;d

Supposedly a Tom Petty reference? ;D

Wasn’t the Tom petty reference a replacements reference?

I've also read that it was, but on the other hand seen having connected Phoebe's song with Petty in the first place, but who knows.

Even though the title and the subtitles are in German, there are no voiceovers so you can all watch this!

I think “Graceland Too” is my favorite. I joke that it’s by The Band Phoebe.

“I Know the End” is my favorite Phoebe song right now, by a pretty significant margin.

“Kyoto” & “I See You” are the other ones on here I’ve gone back to the most this past weekend, but I dunno if that’s ‘cause I think they’re the *best* or whatever; I just enjoy throwing ‘em on.

I get chills when she sings "Swore I could hear you through the walls, but that's impossible" every damn time.

This album just makes me insanely ready for whatever Julien and Lucy have in store next for us.

I wonder if they feel pressure to put out something great now since they alway seem to be compared to each other.

They probably don't think that way but you never know. I guess Julien's album is already done too from what I've heard.

Unless I missed it in here, I haven't seen anyone post about the guests listed in the liner notes.

Lucy and Julien both provide vocals in Graceland Too and I Know The End
Conor has vocals on Hallween of course, but also I Know The End. Conor has co-writer credits on both those songs as well as Punisher and Savior Complex.
Nate Walcott provides the horns on Kyoto and I Know The End
    Mike Mogis mixed the album

so yes, all of Bright Eyes were involved with I Know The End, which many of us heard strong BE vibes in.

Sara Watkins (Nickel Creek) is the fiddle on Graceland Too
Blake Mills, Nick Zinner and other notables are involved as well, wikipedia has the full breakdown if interested

    yeah

to me, Phoebe took off where Bright Eyes left (except BE are now back I guess...) in spirit & a bit in sound

it seems clear too that Connor is kind of a mentor to Phoebe so all of this makes sense

    a wonderful community of artists
