The hardest thing about listening to this record is resisting the impulse to see her live... while knowing it's not going happen before a long long long while.
this immediately shot to my #1 of the year. I really really love St. Cloud and Fetch the Bolt Cutters, but as @Brother Beck put it - this one feels like a part of my DNA.
My favourite kind of lyrics are ones that are sort of conversational or story telling rather than overly "poetic" or flowery etc. So many good ones on here. He said you called on his birthday You were off by like ten days But you get a few points for trying So simple but just sounds incredible (combined with a great melody of course). I could copy and basically paste the whole album haha.
Went in on my first listen this morning and loved it. Going to spin the vinyl later tonight. Cool to hear Conor pop up on a track or two.
“There's a big conversation around privilege to be had. I, a young white female, was able to meet other young white females who had contacts with journalists. So many people do not have that" Phoebe Bridgers on the experience of speaking out against Ryan Adams
Chinese Satellites has this melody going on that just is so familiar, so brilliant, and so good. This is right now the best song I’ve heard in 2020.
Going back to the boygenius discussion a few pages back I prefer Lucy’s solo albums to Phoebe and Julien but I can definitely see this ending up on the same level as Historian for me
