I think the end of I Know the End is just Phoebe being a silly goose and having some fun to be honest.
I feel like she is literally just being silly by doing some heavy breathing & making some apocalyptic sounds lol
Wow this album's fantastic. Glad I listened to it once, but now waiting til Friday or my vinyl to arrive at least!
Lol I used to do this when I was like 16 listening to Tool Might have to do it again with this album, 16 years later
The closing of I Know the End seemed like her messing around and doing a “and the crowd goes wild”/roar of the crowd type thing.
honestly, honestly, i might agree. that's how good this album is. and Kyoto is not a bad song by any means. my initial thought when listening was 'wow the pre-release tracks are among the weakest on the album' and thats really really fucking saying something.
"Chinese Satellite" sounds like something written in a dream. She's so good at making you feel like you aren't crazy for feeling lonely, sad, and in your own head sometimes.
been trying to pinpoint what makes her such a unique songwriter and IMO the best encapsulation is: “If you’re a work of art, I’m standing too close I can see the brush strokes. I hate your mom, I hate it when she opens her mouth.” she’s gotten so good at combining poetic imagery with blunt-force honesty that makes you laugh in a “that’s so relatable but i can’t believe she said it like that” way.
“Hear so many stories of you at the bar” I just love how she says bar in Punisher.. I’m not sure why.. it’s such a little thing but I love it.
Great interview. Apparently "Garden Song" is an acoustic guitar figure that she sampled through an iPad and then used to make the song? PHOEBE BRIDGERS | THE COVER INTERVIEW | THE FORTY-FIVE
My fiancé, who is very much not a music person the way we are, on first listen to “Chinese satellite” just unprompted said “god damn she is one of the best songwriters of our generation.” :’)
