I didn't know the place had any specific reputation, good or bad, lol; like I said, I know the town's name mostly due to a metalcore band I was into in high school. As someone currently living in the old steel town of Aliquippa, PA, though, "poorer community w/ unfair crime reputation" is super relatable.

I’m from the kalamazoo area and this type of dichotomy happens in Portage/kalamazoo where portage people (mostly middle and upper class workers from Pfizer and Stryker) all look down on kzoo which is a college town/rad as fuck.
Yep! I live in Parchment and go to WMU and Portage has always felt like it’s own little universe. Very disconnected from the city of Kalamazoo. It’s even worse when you take the racial segregation of the city into consideration.
Laughter, Tears, and Harmony: How Phoebe Bridgers Made 'Punisher' A Day in the Life of Phoebe Bridgers
RIYL: Phoebe Bridgers, sad songs The debut EP from Skullcrusher is quickly becoming one of my most anticipated releases this year. Highly recommend! The first song released a month ago is one of my favorite songs of the year, it’s absolutely breathtaking. I think you all will love this! The second song just released is also very good.
