Folks who are fans of Phoebe/this album (and perhaps taking a hiatus because of the stuff with Marshall but wanting more similar-esque music) should check out the new Hana Vu album that dropped today, especially if you're looking for a solid singer-songwriter indie rock album. It's really good and definitely an AOTY contender.

She definitely deserves more recognition. Right in that moody indie wheelhouse that Phoebe does so well, but still catchy, full of beautiful melodies.

Marshall’s ex Ruby wrote a post about him on her substack

You Caught Migraines From Me

“He’s telling her that they have to keep quiet for now, he’s in hot water with his boss and with the fans on the internet. He’s promising her that once things cool down, he’ll show her off everywhere.” (This is in regards to Marshall having a new girlfriend, implying Phoebe and him are not on good terms)

Also she calls him a pervert later on and implies having issue with the age gap in their relationship, posting the entire quote for context:

“I want to tell him “You’re a fucking pervert” but I also want to tell him “You should watch this one documentary. And by the way, I saw it with my new, age-appropriate, sweet boyfriend who posts me online and introduces me to his friends and shit. I think you would like each other.” I want to hurt his feelings and I also want to just be his friend already.”

 

Doesn’t mean Phoebe is still involved with him, but Marshall is credited on the new Maya Hawke album that was produced by Christian Lee Huston. Not bringing that up to stir shit, but just to show that Marshall is still very much a part of that scene.

 

Removing him from credits is hard so it depends on if it was recorded recently.

 

Idk if it was this thread or boygenius, but I posted that Christian had Marshall hanging out with him in the studio less than a year ago. And Phoebe also posted being with Christian at the studio around the same day.

I’m not trying to deter anyone from listening to Maya’s album, which is great btw, but I just wanted people to be aware.

Surprised we haven’t had an album announcement, I assumed she might release a solo record this year.

 

Makes sense to take a break year after how big Punisher, Boygenius and touring for both of those was. I feel like she’ll put something out next year

 

At this point I don't really miss her.

 

i'll be interested to see how involved marshall is on whatever comes next and if she will ever address that situation. sounds like he's still part of the crew.

 

I expect him to be part of it all and for them to not address a single bit of it.

Yeah I'm so out on her if Marshall is still involved and that goes for anyone working with him.

 

I’m pretty out on her since 2021ish but I fully expect the next album to be good enough that I have to begrudgingly like it haha

 

Not worth it if she's still working with an accused rapist and making such a massive unforced error at the height of her fame.

 

I’d probably listen to the next thing she did, but my hype for Punisher wore off fairly quickly and my interest in whisper-y soft music is at an all-time low rn. (Except for you, American Analog Set. I’ll always love American Analog Set.)

If she’s still working with Marshall I’ll probably skip it altogether.
