I think Phoebe fans will love this album from Al Menne, the lead singer of Great Grandpa. It's their debut solo album produced by Christian Lee Hutson, engineered and mixed by Melina Duterte (Jay Som), and with Meg Duffy (Hand Habits) on guitar.
I wasn’t expecting anything new this year. She finished up her solo headlining touring which she had been doing since shows came back in fall 2021, then went straight into the Eras Tour and then straight into boygenius. Where was the time to record new solo material? Aside from that, I feel like after all the touring and media exposure and rise to fame she may want a break for a while to just ya know lay low and not be in the spotlight.
this is good. Thank you. You owe me $25 though since I was compelled to buy the vinyl after repeated listens.
I remember there being tweets late last year or early this year saying she had an album ready and was supposed to be released. I’m sure it’s in this thread. At the same time, I doubt they expected the massive success of the boygenius record and pushed things back until next year.
I don’t recall that and think it would be odd to have a solo album ready if you were also planning on releasing a boygenius record. I imagine the boygenius album and tour has been in the works for a while. Now I could be wrong and perhaps she did actually tweet this. I wouldn’t mind another solo album soon.
Almost assuredly. But it's also possible that her first album on Interscope - assuming she's the reason why boygenius came out on that label - was expected to be solo but with the band getting back together plans changed.
I think Punisher is unquestionably better as a record, but "Smoke Signals," "Scott Street," and "Motion Sickness" are better than almost all of it.
I think Punisher is a good album but I vastly prefer Stranger personally, I Know the End is probably her best song tho. the Better Oblivion album is actually probably my favorite thing she has done to date altogether if I am being honest.
