So cool to see a Portland, ME date. I'll be there for sure. Thompson's Point is a beautiful place for a show, but it's so damn messy if it rains.
That remains one of my favorite concerts of all time. The absolute stillness and silence in the air while hundreds of people listened to the three of them around a single microphone singing Ketchum, ID was sublime
Glad that Phoebe is making it to Florida finally. Julien sadly hasn't been back since the Petal, Pinegrove, Julien, Kevin Devine tour in late 2016. Just realized the last and only time Phoebe was in FL was in 2017 with Ryan Adams, yikes.
I can fully attest to the fact that her crowds are VERY online teens from 16-20 who love screaming and being extra. Though I think Phoebe tolerates it a little more than poor Clairo who cancelled shows due to the same types of crowds.
These (US/Canada) shows are mainly places where she played a festival last year and is now playing a stand alone show, rescheduled dates, or places she did not hit up last year.
I thought the crowd at Gov Ball was fine. There was one embarrassing “mommy” chant before she came on but other than that…a lot more people crying than anything else. Not sure what the shows being outside or not has to do with the anything tbh
I haven’t seen her since this album came out but if the crowds are bad to a point where people can’t hear Phoebe or people in the crowd are being really annoying to the point it’s ruining the performance then I understand people having issues, especially when tickets are $60+ which is a lot.
Do we think Phoebe will be on Lolla now that she's got a headlining Chicago date? Of course my friend who lives in Denver isn't going to be there the week of the Red Rocks show. Want to make one of these dates but it seems unlikely.
Yeah, she's already playing Lolla this year, it's in her tour dates (but it's the one in Paris, so I'm just joking here).
I'd bet Lolla next year I was at the Pitchfork show people are complaining about and had a great time so I dunno what anyone is talking about
I've seen her indoors twice, once on the boy genius tour and once with better oblivion and both times were great, tho when I saw her with better oblivion community center the crowd was mostly annoying for Christian Lee Hutson by talking throughout his set so I couldn't hear, and there was a fan being annoying about Conor that kept screaming and screeching his name over and over. But idk I feel like there's often that one person at every show who brings it down and I presume is often drunk.
I also dislike people generally so I'm usually annoyed by concert crowds in general lmao. When I was in line for Foxing/Manchester recently I wanted to strangle everyone in the line around me while we were waiting for doors to open so maybe I'm the problem.
Nah people at shows have been pretty bad since they came back Just look at what’s been happening at Clairo shows for a good example of this
The Manchester show I went to last week there were a couple of girls standing near me that talked through most of the set about basically anything but the show in front of them. When The Gold started one of them goes “omg this is the song Phoebe covered” and then they talked about Phoebe Bridgers and Julien Baker through the whole song only at the end to be like “wow this guy is a really good front man!” I wanted to be mean but I just moved away from them instead hah
I suspect average age of show goers during/post pandemic has gone down a bit as middle aged & above are more cautious still. That’s been my theory given the last few shows I’ve attended at least.
Moving away is usually the answer. So many people plant and let their anger build it always makes me chuckle.
I almost yelled at 2 girls for talking thru Jimmy eat world a few months back. They made it loudly known they were there for the opener only. The opener had already played but they wanted to stay front row i guess instead of juat hanging in the back to casually watch and talk. It was the first time I was hearing my fave song off their new record and the women talked thru the entire song. And it was about nothing important. It was them talking about their jobs and stuff. I learned their entire life story. As a shortie it sucks cause if I move I probably can't see. So I have to choose between seeing and hearing I guess. Which I shouldn't have to imo!
