I think the more shows I’ve gone to, the more i prefer intimate gigs. Seeing Phoebe in Bloomington with like 100 people was an amazing time.
I know it was an impromptu shift but that venue is a really weird/bad one for her. Anyway I missed the STL show because I'm out of town but so hyped for P4K Friday!!
My friend who was with me used to work there and said he’s only seen local cover bands play there. She’s probably the biggest artist to ever play it it I had to guess hahaha
This Americana festival that has some decent acts used it as their venue for the first time this year because they'd outgrown their one in the city. That's my only exposure to it and honestly it was kinda a weird vibe even for those shows that were very laid back, sit down types with a lotta old ppl haha
She played “Me & My Dog” last night after someone in the crowd repeatedly requested it. Every time a boygenius song is played it makes me happy. Hope she adds that song to the setlist more regularly. It also gives me hope that after their respective tours for their new albums we finally get a boygenius album.
The guy who requested it was right in front of me and was the most obnoxious person ever. Screamed during every quiet part and was blitzed cross faded out of his mind.
Hey if anyone is looking for 2 tickets to the Detroit show next week, let me know. I never got that refund AXS was supposedly offering on upgraded tickets. I don’t really care about getting all my money back at this point, though, so I’d sell both for like $50
man, i honestly didn't realize how big she has gotten. she has over a million followers on instagram. one of her most recent posts had over 200k likes. insane. i still remember smoke signals getting posted on here in 2017 and being absolutely floored with a handful of other posters. good on her.
Yeah I remember that too, when the only version of that song online was a live Youtube link; amazing how popular she's gotten in such a short span of time
It's still insane how during the boygenius era Julien was more popular than Phoebe and Lucy and now Phoebe has blown up and Lucy has also gotten tremendously more popular. Just wild how quick it all happened.
I think about this sometimes. At the moment it was Julien and these two other artists but now it’s much more this all-encompassing supergroup where Phoebe takes the top spot and Lucy is a very close third.
At this point I think Lucy is bigger than Julien. They're playing comparable sized venues and almost every date of Lucy's tour is sold out while Julien's isn't quite there.
I wonder how much of that is timing around when the album was released and when tours were able to be scheduled.
Good point. I also feel like Home Video has gotten some more acclaim than Little Oblivions. Lucy’s bump feels very similar to Julien when she went from Sprained Ankle to TOTL, whereas I sort of think Julien stayed mostly the same.
At the Indy show and bought the bones/heart shirt. It is very glittery haha Also, MUNA was pretty great. Loved their set.
