Yeah, that’s exactly it. Or even cases like Ezra from Vampire Weekend or Albert Hammond Jr. - it will get picked up, nothing happens and well, that’s all. Like, I don’t blame anyone for keeping it vague because why risk it? Jesse Lacey’s victims came forward and all they do is get shit on, even when one of them said they weren’t even trying to cancel Jesse/the band and the band gets to do their anniversary tours and make bank.
I was typing something else out but it was jumbled and losing the plot so I guess the most plain way of saying it would be it is much easier for artists of phoebe and weezer’s level to feign ignorance and never directly address something leading to them never actually taking action against the relatively minor members of their camps with allegations against them than it is for a band of brand new’s size. Absolutely sucks but to whoever it was above’s point, if you look up the Marshall allegations this site is pretty much the main result. I’m sure phoebe does know and just isn’t doing anything and I’ve heard anecdotally that rivers absolutely knows about Brian but if phoebe was ever was directly confronted about it, it’s easy to feign the ignorance of “I’ve never heard of this blink 182 fan site and this is the first I’m hearing of anything about Marshall.” Just stinks but short of the accuser making a more explicit allegation (not saying they should or should have to do this) I don’t expect anything to ever come of this
