im probably gonna be moving to philly in january. if not jan then definitely by august. but its increasingly looking like i'll be there by january
I was in Philly yesterday, visiting girlfriend's family in PA. I love Boston too much but I could see myself living here too
my girlfriend goes to penn so we'll probably look for something close to campus, which i think is in west philly?
Nice. Yeah that area right near Drexel and Penn is nice. Can get a little rough once you venture far out of it though. That's Philly for ya though
yeah my girlfriend told me that haha. im from st louis so im used to rough areas, i used to spend some time on the north side here which is like, the worst part of the city by far so i know how it is.
that's where we're moving lol she gets a nice refund from her school thanks to financial aid and my parents are helping me get on my feet. she needs to be within walking distance of penns campus
yeah the plan is to sublease a place from someone until summer then sign our own lease on a place for next fall semester, we'll have better options then

That's fine. I live in Fishtown anyway and hardly leave my neighborhood, so you're probably safe. EDIT: Oh, also I don't rob people's houses. Probably should have led with that.
In the process of buying a house. Looking primarily in East Falls, but generally all over and in a few of the suburbs around the Northeast
We bought our home almost two years ago. It was a nerve wracking situation, but ultimately it feels so good to know that the money I'm paying each month goes to something. I like the East Falls area. When I first moved back to Philly I almost went there, but ended up in Fishtown. The thing about East Falls/Manayunk/Roxborough that bothers me is the (relatively) difficult nature of getting out there or into Center City. They have some gorgeous homes, though. Good luck to you!
Thanks, man! I know, depending on where you're situated it could be a pain in the ass to get around. A few of the houses that we're looking at are relatively close to the boulevard entrance, which could get me to work in like 20 minutes since I leave early enough. There's the train in walking distance if we were traveling into the city. The pain in the ass is getting to like Fishtown/Northern Liberties. We've gone from our friend's in EF to Girard Ave a few times and it seems like it takes forever. No real easy way to go.
That's exactly why I have only been out there a handful of times, haha. One thing I wish Philly could do as well as NYC is have a transit system like it. You have to take like 4 different trains/trolleys to get from one to the other. So annoying.
A lot of cities of crap public transportation. Philly isn't great but PIttsburgh is 100x worse. I live in SJ, and taking the Patco to the market frankford line to get to fishtown is really convenient
