Yep! Well, I'm in Jersey across the W. Whitman at the moment but I'll be moving back in within a month or so. Whenever u cum over
I have tickets to Father John Misty on April 23 at the Fillmore. And, Courtney Barnett tickets May 26 at the Electric Factory. Anyone going to be at those shows for a Chorus Philly meetup?
So Philly people: Piebald and Drive Like Jehu are the same day (Aug 9) I think I'm doing Piebald but ???
Restorations show sounds good, might try to make it out to that tomorrow! Thanks for the heads up. I love JBs as a venue.
My roommate is getting married at Valley Forge at the end of the month. My girlfriend and I are staying in the city though. Neither of us have been. I'm looking for suggestions for food, music, and pretty much anything else worth checking out.
Here are some super basic resources for finding cool stuff in philly... Events: www.uwishunu.com Food/Drink: www.foobooz.com Shows: www.r5productions.com If you're looking for anything specific (i.e. jazz, a great burger, the grimiest dive, outdoorsy stuff...) feel free to send me a message. I love helping out visitors, Philly has so much to offer if you know where to look.
Here are some of my Philly Top 5's TOP 5 DIVES: 1. Tattooed Moms - A true classic. Best jukebox. 2. El Bar - Stop at Que Chula and get a burrito on your way to eat at the bar. 3. Bob & Barbara's - Karaoke Night 4. Dahlak - Best outdoor patio seating in West Philly 5. McGlinchey's - If you don't mind smelling like an ashtray TOP 5 VENUES: 1. First Unitarian Sanctuary - The acoustics in the church area are AMAZING 2. Johnny Brenda's - Get a good beer, watch from the balcony, play some pool afterwards. 3. Boot & Saddle - Not bad for bar venue. 4. First Unitarian Basement - If you haven't seen a show here what are you doing tbh 5. Mann Center - So expensive but I liked going there for outdoor summertime big shows. TOP 5 PIZZA: 1. Pizza Beddia - They only make 40 pizzas a night so get there early. 2. Lazarros - Classic, huge slices for extremely reasonable price. 3. Dock Street - That fig jam pizza omg 4. Lorenzo's - IDK it's traditional 5. Pizza Brain - Mostly for the world's only "pizza museum" factor. It's a novelty, but worth checking out. I'd love to hear anyone else's Philly Top 5 Anything lists.
Hi If you guys haven't been to Tacconelli's Pizza you should try it for sure. You used to have to call that day to reserve dough, but they say you don't need to anymore. Also, if you make it over the bridge to NJ they have a location with lots of yummy pastas.
el bar is a fantastic dive bar. because you're going to be in valley forge, west chester has a bar named jake's that is truly iconic. other cool bars include garage in south philly and barcade in fishtown. neither of which are super unique but they're fun spots. as far as food goes, blackbird right off of south street is an awesome place to go.
"Angry" Pizza at Beddia is probably the greatest thing I ever / will ever eat! Words cannot describe the goodness! Union Transfer doesn't make your Top 5 for venues?
Anyone have any good recs for Record Store Day, I go to Repo on South Street frequently enough when I am in the city, but any hidden gems I am missing?
