Yes I have, three of my friends and I are sharing a pretty big 3 bedroom rowhome in south-ish philly (right off broad st/block away from a subway stop) and my rent is like $440 a month or something it's crazy
daaaamn not too bad, me and my girlfriend got a single bedroom thats gonna be 1k, so 500 each. couple blocks from penn's campus, where she goes to school. and literally a street over from a trolley station
yeah before i met my girlfriend i wanted to move to chicago when i graduated which woulda been so expensive especially alone
Philly is awesome for its affordable rent. Of course that is neighborhood specific, but you usually can find something more affordable than you ever would in other cities.
idk too much about the neighborhood my place is in but it's a block off broad street so i figure it can't be too bad. Plus it's on a dead end half block with only houses on one side so I only have like 8 neighbors
Sounds like Passyunk Square area, if you're going east; Point Breeze if you're going west. Either way, nothing too bad.
the cost of living in st louis is astronomically lower than it is in philly haha. me and my girlfriend could easily find a single here for 400-500
I guess I was being narrow minded when I wrote that. I mainly had places like Chicago, LA, New York, San Fran in mind. My bad.
oh yeah compared to the BIG major cities it seems to be on the lower end of things. cost of living out on the west coast is ridiculous.
Cool to see other people in the area, went to Drexel so have been in University City for the last 5 years. I'm on 40th and Spring Garden so I guess I'm pretty close to @sophos34 and @US Camera
Because I'm bored and don't have anything to do at work, here's a quick map of stuff in University City to do or hang around. Map should be edit-friendly if @US Camera has any suggestions. I wouldn't really advise going out of the blue, red, and yellow areas. There's not really any businesses or things to do, plus the further west and south you go the city technically gets "more dangerous". Not sure if you've lived in cities previously or not but just use good judgement, definitely wouldn't wander past here late at night or intoxicated. https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?...ll=39.938824518527454,-75.17523118051906&z=13
yeah my girlfriend has warned me about certain areas of philly, im from st louis and while i live in the suburbs ive spent quite a bit of time in the north side here which is one of the most dangerous areas in the country
Realized I forgot to add the link https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?...ll=39.938824518527454,-75.17523118051906&z=13
