I feel like my initial reaction should be taken with a grain of salt cause I’m riding on a high, but at this moment I genuinely can’t think of one thing I’d change about it.
I've heard it requires multiple viewings to really "get" which has kind of deterred me from watching it so far, but then again the people who told me that are dolts so...
Inherent Vice was pretty funny. Doesn’t get the credit it deserves, I think it’s unfairly maligned. Really enjoyed it.
IV is good. Probably his weakest but there are some bright moments. The book was, obviously, much more dense and better IMO.
I really like Inherent Vice. Pynchon was always going to be incredibly difficult to properly adapt and PTA did a very good job with it. It's still one of his weakest films but absolutely worth watching.
Yeah, definitely his weakest imo, though I still haven’t seen Hard 8. But it’s really funny and an enjoyable watch.
I liked Inherent Vice a good deal at the time, but I haven't really had the desire to watch it again. I've tried a couple times but it was always late and I fell asleep. I kind of wish I hadn't read the book before seeing it tbh.
Hard Eight (Sydney) is good, not great, but worth watching because he was what, 25 at that time? Crazy.
Planning on revisiting Hard Eight this month cause they're screening a 35mm print. I remember it being good but definitely not on the level of any of his other work.
