Holy shit, I’ve lost track of time. I did not realize when I clicked on that that the premiere date was only in four days. Obviously they can still edit until the official release date, but yeah, that would be very unfortunate if they released something early strictly for the sake of the Oscars. I wonder if that’s something PTA had any control over. I feel like at this point he’d have enough agency to put out a movie whenever he wants.
The Oscars' qualification window is calendar year. If they needed more time they still had weeks left to work on it. Not worried about that happening at all.
I can't even imagine how the Academy is gonna go through all their yearly self fellatio and back pats this year, after the world has found out that Hollywoods been harboring and abetting mass rape for decades. But I know they're still gonna fucking do it.
Hollywood loves themselves to ever get rid of the Oscars, lets be real, but it will be interesting to see how they handle all this trash
Every year around this time I'm reminded of how funny it is that the film industry for some reason is the only one that people think isn't allowed to hold an intra-industry awards ceremony.
After 9/11 they somehow made it about themselves, so it won't be surprising when they position the Oscars as a valiant defense against people like Weinstein, even though Weinstein has been synonymous with the Academy Awards for two decades.
My brother isn’t a big time in Hollywood, but he does work in the business and I half-jokingly asked if he has an in that would allow us to go to one of the premieres with a Q&A and he texted me back and said he shot his friend at Annapurna an email haha. So, we’ll see. Fingers crossed
lol, I dunno what strings my brother pulled, but he got me in the reserved seating for this show haha
It’s definitely more instantaneous than something like The Master so I’m not sure where I’d rank it, but it might have taken my #1 spot for 2017. There’s still a decent amount of features I need to see. All I can say is that right from the get go it just feels classic. It reminded me of something like Jane Eyre, not in plot, but for the fact that like a lot of those old romances, there is a darkness underneath that is always present but not necessarily spoken about.
Me neither. I felt it was one of the funnier films he’s made. I can think of multiple instances where the whole audience was laughing out loud.
