I buy way less physical media these days but I'll always make an exception for PTA due in part to things like this.
I'm not really an arty film guy or even a film guy in general (I am a DDL fan though) but I watched this tonight and just absolutely loved it for some reason? Having a difficult time thinking of any other 2017 movie I've seen that I enjoyed more
The score was outstanding. I've had those piano pieces floating around in my head for the past 24 hours.
What do you guys mean the packaging is reversible? I picked up the bluray at a Target recently and put it upside down to see if a different image popped out and probably looked like a loon.
Everyone I saw this with despised this movie but I was intrigued the entire time. I need a second viewing.
Obviously people can like whatever they want, but it’s genuinely baffling to me when I hear of people despising this movie. I could understand being indifferent or even disliking it, but some people actually hate it. It’s probably his most accessible movie.
You think it is accessible? I would put most of his movies before it, other than maybe The Master and Punch-Drunk Love. If you don't appreciate what Anderson is trying to build it could be boring for people who don't know any better.
I thought so! It’s a fairly straightforward story and it’s god damn hilarious. I found it endlessly entertaining, though I suppose I could see how someone might find it boring. But even if something is boring I don’t necessarily despise it. I’ve seen people on this website say it was the worst theater going experience for them ha. Which is fine, I’m just curious what parts of this movie could be so offensive that it’s considered the “worst.”
Of course it’s not traditionally accessible, but I felt it was for PTA. At least, compared to his last couple features ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Finally saw this. The performances were exceptional, and esp the actress who played the sister. So many understated yet funny scenes with him, and her.
I really loved this. I agree that it’s definitely a lot weirder than usual Hollywood stuff, but not totally out there for casual viewers. Need to see it again.
I understand, Inherent Vice is (...probably) my favorite of his movies and I'm used to people (strongly) disagreeing with me. I would say the worst PTA movie is still better than most, so it's all good
