The nails were in the coffin but yeah, very weird indeed. Absolutely thrilled for Tommy to be the final blow. What i would give for him to start winning on tour. Tiger coaches the 2025 US Team at Bethpage right? That has to be a done deal.
Furthering the proof that the only people who actually give a shit about LIV/PGA are the media. ....and maybe still Rory
That is my usual take when it's the regular season, but I have found this team playoff weekend more entertaining than I thought I would. I'm excited to see Tiger + Rory's TGL next year though.
If it’s truly anywhere close to $600M then I don’t know anyone who would turn that down. Especially if there is going to be some paths back to playing majors and larger PGA events.
Summing Up the 2023 LPGA Season The LPGA played its last official tournament last weekend. The 2023 season has now come to a close, and what a season it was! There were records set in many different categories. Here is my recap of what I thought was one of the most competitive and entertaining seasons ever. Summing Up the 2023 LPGA Season
The silence from Rahm is bad but I still don’t quite believe it. Nobody is confirming it beyond this one source; you’ll notice he cites himself.
A huge signing for LIV which could become a massive move depending on who Rahm gets to come with him now that it's offical he's getting his own team. While Rahm declined on saying the official offer, Golf Channel is reporting that it's around $550M. That is just an insane amount of money.
There’s almost no way anyone could turn that amount of money down. Rahm in many ways played this perfectly – by not going with the initial wave, he let them take all the heat. Once the tour tour decided that they were OK being in bed with Saudi money, he now positions himself as the best possible acquisition. Even if he only plays a couple years, because the tours actually merged, he will secure a massive payday. He will be in every single major for the next half decade thanks to winning the masters, so he can use the rest of his time to stay sharp; he also confirmed that this would not affect his ability to play the DP world tour, which doesn’t really make any sense to me, and may not actually be true. If it is, you will see a lot more guys old because they can still obtain world ranking points that way. As a person who used to follow the tour pretty hard and lives and dies for the four major weekends, and the Ryder Cup, or even really good events like The players, Bay Hill, the Memorial, and Tour championship, I am soured on watching golf as a whole. There are a ton of really great young players of the PGA TOUR, who will get a shot, and that’s great. But with limited hours in the day, I would sincerely rather focus on either practicing or playing my own game instead of watching this on TV. It’s very sad, and it’s indicative of the way things work in a world driven exclusively by money.
Yeah that is an obscene amount of money, literally an offer you can’t refuse. And it’s gonna work, I’m much more inclined to watch a LIV event now with Brooks, Bryson, Rahm etc now. Turning into an actual competitive product
I have a feeling Rahm is gonna get at least 1 bigger name to come join his team on LIV and I wouldn't be surprised if it's actually 2 big players and then maybe a 3rd older player but who still has some name recognition. I would be very surprised if when he announces his team that it's filled with no-name guys who have some sort of personal connection to Rahm - like a former college teammate or something. He was on Pat McAfee this morning and when the question was asked about his team he had sort of a giddy smile which leads me to believe he's bringing some bigger names with him.
