Nice to see Michelle Wie cap off her career with a birdie on the last hole. I think it's fair to say her career was decent, if not a bit disappointing based on how she was being projected at such a young age and the waves she made early on. To be fair, her parents did her no favors putting her in the positions they did. More importantly, it seems like she has found a purpose later in life and has come out of the other end well-adjusted which you can't say for most child prodigies in their adult lives. I hope the same rings true for Lexi Thompson who has a strangely similar career arc and has completely fallen off the women's landscape within the past year after yet again missing a cut.
tied my personal best 89 today - had an opportunity on 18 to shoot 88 but absolutely flubbed a green side chip to set up bogey. Was devastated lol Still maybe the overall best 18 holes ive ever played today. Felt great.
I have no idea what to do with JT regarding the Ryder Cup. He's such a stud in that event and he is an excellent heel for getting under the skin of the Europeans, but this play the last six months is so bad. Not just bad by JT standards but pretty bad overall. I guess I would understand if they left him off but would understand if they have him on the team and have him play two matches. Weird leaderboard after round one which tends to happen at this event. I didn't get to see much of it and don't know how much I will for the rest of the way as I am going on vacation. I had Viktor winning it and feel comfortable with it after his first round.
If his name wasn’t Justin Thomas, he would never be in the conversation. As it is, he should tell Cap Z to take his name off the board. Play the Rickie role, go as a Vice Cap, be a vibes guy and maybe light a fire under your ass to get back there.
Did not expect to return from an off-the-grid vacation at Yosemite to learn that Brian Harman as a major winner. Sounds like it wasn't even close. I certainly don't love all his waggles, but I think he is a worthy major champion. I don't see him winning again, but I love it when a player with a different playing style wins one every now and then. Debating on whether to go to the 3M Open as it is five minutes from my place. The nice thing about them downsizing the playoff field is that this event gets a stronger field than normal, however, Justin Thomas misses the cut.
Buy all the stock in Ludvig Aberg you can. It’s like hopping on the Rory bandwagon as a teenager. Guy has maybe the best, most effortless swing in golf and he’s gonna be a MONSTER at the Ryder Cup.
