Memories are nice, but that's all they are. Prestigious

    Super happy for Rahm

Brooks is incapable of getting out of his own head.

    Unreal day for Phil

Will Zalatoris will miss the remainder of the year after back surgery - PGA TOUR

Will Zalatoris out for the remainder of the season after having back surgery. I hope this fixes his back as those injuries are so precarious.

Huge blow to the depth of the US Ryder Cup team. His absence was greatly felt in the Presidents Cup when they had to resort to the likes of Kisner and Horschel. Fine players but they are not Zalatoris.

The start of the final round was shaping up to be insane down the stretch, and then Rahm started methodically picking up strokes and it boiled down to another smooth-ish win walking down 18 (minus the weird missed drive).

I think the biggest story of Sunday belonged to both Brooks & Phil.

Love or hate LIV, and I think the majority of the criticisms surrounding it are very valid, it made for a damn exciting Master's week and I think will turn up the notch on all the majors.

Aside from a LIV player actually winning The Masters, I don't know how it could have gone much better for LIV, and I still don't think it will move the needle much in their direction, which is why my belief is that it will ultimately fold within 1-2 years.

But for the time being - I hope they can figure out how to co-exist within the majors and Ryder/president cups.

Though I'm still not a fan of a designated event right after the Masters, today's action at Hilton Head was quite awesome. Don't know how Spieth's putt on the first playoff hole didn't fall in, but Fitzpatrick took advantage of the break and made one of the best shots to win a tournament on the third playoff hole. I've been watching golf a long time and it's hard for me to think of a better run of tournaments this season has had than these last few months. Designated events have been won by superstars and the weaker field events have been compelling in their own right.

Also, Jon Rahm was so good commentating after he completed his round. Huge props to him for showing up at all this week and then playing quite well. And then to sit in the broadcast booth for a good 30 minutes and deliver intelligent analysis when he has to be dead tired is so impressive. The game is in good hands.

  9. I bet on Theegala and Fitzpatrick for this event. What a win.

Just got back from a very cold round with my niece and nephew. It just didn't seem right to not play a round in April. I can't remember the last time I failed to play in April so figured I didn't want to start that trend. It's been such a brutal spring here in Minnesota. I'm hesitant to declare brighter and warmer days are ahead but this week does look promising.

Now I'm going to settle in here and see if Rahm can track down Finau at the Mexico Open.

While he might not be someone I'd bet money on - Tony is always my heart's pick for any tournament - especially majors.

  15. I had $25 on Tony to win. Not a huge payout but a win is a win. I had a great parlay of Tony top 5, Rahm top 5, Walker top 20, Lipsky top 20 that would have won me nearly $2k but Lipsky had a brutal weekend.

This week will be an interesting test for the designated event model. No Rahm or Scheffler with a course that has come across as quite bland in the past, though for whatever reason it was intriguing during the Presidents Cup last fall. You do have Rory returning after taking a mental health break. Would love to see a Sahith or Cam Young break through here for their first win.

Also, don't forget the ladies have a team competition with the International Crown and there has already been some drama with Team England and the late withdrawals of Charley Hull and Georgia Hall.

  20. My bets for this week…

    To win:
    Mitchell
    Theegala
    Hovland
    Homa

    Parlay:
    Rickie Fowler, top 10
    Emiliano Grillo, top 20
    Taylor Moore, top 40

Well, we had a first-time winner, but it wasn't Theegala or Young who both were never a factor. Wyndham Clark has been playing quite well so not the biggest surprise. Overall, the week kind of went how I thought in that it felt like it was the weakest of the designated weeks. A number of factors played into it in that you had no Rahm or Scheffler; many big names like Rory and Fitzpatrick out of contention; an overexposed course that lacks an identity and all of that adds up to a sleepy week.

Thailand captures the International Crown on the LPGA side of things. USA played ok to capture third place. Lexi Thompson played really well, but I think Danielle Kang's horrendous driving really hurt that team.

Two weeks until the PGA Championship. I really Oak Hill and excited to see how it holds up this year.

Nice to see Jason Day return to the winner's circle. I also think he has a really good chance of winning next week at Oak Hill. Preliminary reports make it sound like the course could play more like a US Open with the false fronts and very thick rough.

Meanwhile, it sounds like some CW affiliates cut away from LIV's tournament with four holes left to show reruns of Family Feud and something called SWAT. Yikes.

  24. It’s really not good. And the course they played on last week looked worse than my local courses.

Anyone have predictions for this week's PGA Championship?

There are a lot of intriguing storylines. Will Scottie's putter remain cold? Can Rahm continue this insane play? Is Rory in the right frame of mind after being inundated these past few months with everything but his game?

It seems like the keys this week will be driving accuracy and long iron play which has me pumped. I like when majors are not a driver and wedge game. That setup just screams Viktor Hovland but not sure he has that killer instinct in him to take it. I would love to be proven wrong. In the end, I think Finau wins it with the top five rounding out to be Rahm, Hovland, Scheffler, and Koepka.
