This song is fucking awesome. I liked USA fine but this feels a lot more like an evolution of Lean Into Life/Other Stuff and there was something about those that hit a lot harder for me. Feel like this bodes well for May or June for the album.

 

i never really clicked fully with USA and listen to the other stuff way more so yeah, i agree with that.

It’s very good, it’s kinda hard to put my finger on it but there’s just something about the first one that hits a spot USA just doesn’t for me outside of the intro and I’ll Wait. Has that kind of early Death Cab thing where even (most) of the poppiest songs have that like undercurrent of sad thing. That’s there on USA too obv it just feels a little more on the nose there for lack of a better way to put it. Could be the power of hearing something with no expectations vs very high ones.

Either way I’d pretty much right away put this one in my top 5 songs or so of his.

i was gonna think about goin to see the man next week but i didnt realize its actually a hippo campus tour and hes just opening? if im gonna spend the coin and trek into brooklyn id rather wait for a headlining show.

 

Yeah he’s the only opener though so I’m hoping for at least 45 minutes plus I don’t know when he’ll be back for a headlining show here.

 

As someone who has seen him headline twice, he doesn't play long, so even an opening set may not be that much of a difference between his headline show. I saw him headline before USA came out and he played 11 songs. After USA came out, his set was 13/14 songs (and one was a cover).

My guess as the opener he'll play 10-11 songs.

 

Also, Hippo Campus fucking rocks regardless of if you know any of their music.

 

Ehhh I’ve tried to get into them and they do nothing for me.
