Enjoyed this a lot my first listen. Surprised by how many solo songs there are, though I’m sure they’ll grow on me. The lyrics I caught were gorgeous.
Second listen was much better. So much to unpack in those middle songs that I overlooked. Also I can't get over the ending of "I'm Sorry"
This albums phenomenal. Listening to it I felt like it almost had a live sound, you can hear her pull off from he mic at times. I did some research and sure enough a lot of the vocals were tracked live with the guitars. I love albums like this.
I guess it purposefully stopped with Here's To Forever! by CWS which WAS kind of meant to mark the end of it I guess, but I'm all for a sequel slash revival, especially one so meta. Leo had already taken a meta approach but Kiley did something really endearing with it... I kinda hope Ben or Greg or even Bobby take the hint. It would be refreshing to have something like that again. Oh and the record still hasn't arrived to me which sucks
they're amicable from what's been said, Kiley's said there's no hard feelings. I don't know if they're actively talking but they're basically in the same friend group.
The lyrics even seem to paint that it’s amicable, but there’s a definite sadness/nostalgic resolution to the end of a relationship in the narrative of this record. (I have no idea if it’s Ben or not) I went through and read all of the lyrics this morning, definitely one of the highlights of the album. I can’t wait to spend more time with it. Also cool that Kiley played every instrument except drums on this album, it definitely feels more like a solo effort than Shame and I think it works for the lyrical narrative better that way.
Finally got to sit down with this for real today and it really is wonderful. I listened three times in a row. So excited for the show with Camp Cope next week
