Liked the singles and I listened to nothing at all bc I see the most praise for it and goddamn y’all weren’t kidding. It is the best song I’ve ever heard. Is the rest of the album this good

Idk why but that song feels more like No Shape than it does any of the other tracks on the album. But the rest of the album is definitely that good.

I listened to no shape when it came out and I don't really remember much of it. is that one worth revisiting first or is this a good entry point into his stuff?

I think each of his records is different enough that it’s hard to say what’s the best entry point because it all depends on taste. No Shape felt like a breakthrough of sorts and would be my go-to recommendation. I feel like that record lays some of the groundwork for the “bigger” sound of this record. I’m sure some would say Too Bright or PYBN2I but they’re also decidedly “smaller” and more intimate.

ah shit, I never listened to no shape, I listened to too bright. not sure how I mixed those up lol. no shape sounds closer to what I'd be into. I'll start there

No Shape is a good starting point. Honestly I got into him by listening to all of his records chronologically and I found that pretty rewarding, so do a deep dive if/when you have a chance. For me Too Bright is sort of the halfway between the first two and the most recent two, and if you like No Shape, I can’t imagine you not liking this one.

I’ve listened to ‘No Shape’ like twice? I was gonna go backwards chronologically but I think I’ll just do it in order. Looks like all of his albums are preeeetty good!

“Some Dream” is the most underrated song on here. Incredible.

Not sure this album can be topped this year. Phoebe is the only one I can think of that might come close.

I’m obsessed with the more accessible songs on this; gotta admit I find myself skipping the more ethereal stuff though.

Not that this is necessarily the point of your post, but there's still a bunch of exciting stuff that's already been announced! Braids, Kelly Lee Owens, Kate NV, Arca, Jessie Ware. This is firmly in my top 10 right now, but I'll be curious to see where it sits by the end of the year. It's been a wild one so far.

Oh I know, tbh I just wanted to bump this thread but didn’t want to do the whole “I love this record” thing for the billionth time, haha.

After nearly a whole month in transit, it turned up slightly damaged (not pictured: seam split on the top of the sleeve), must have gotten jostled around on the way here but it's finally arrived - after the hassle of getting it here from the UK I'm not about to send it back!

edit: might ask for a shipping credit if the shop in question is OK with that.

    Dang, that’s disappointing. Sorry.

The fault in this case clearly lies with Royal Mail but I reckon I can work something out with them, anything worse than the damage it took in transit and I would for sure be sending it back. Very good sounding pressing in any case.
