Completely overwhelmed by this. It's not the direction I expected him to take, even after hearing the singles, but it's better than I could have ever predicted. I kept thinking of 3 others recent albums while listening to this. The latest from Arca for the way it juxtaposes this haunting, sometimes ugly darkness and this wealth of beauty. serpentwithfeet's EP from last year for the cathartic yet isolated vocal performances. And the last Bok Iver LP for no sonic reason but uncompromising ambition. Both albums see their artist pushing their boundaries farther than ever before and taking all these left turns while still remaining tied in to this sharp vision of pop music. This album feels very momentous.
it's interesting because these three records (arca, swf, this) all sound incredibly different but there are definite strings tying them together both musically and thematically
I wish y'all were around last night when I was breaking down over how flawless this album turned out.
Man I haven't listened to Learning in forever. What a great catalog he has. Can't wait to sit down with this
I was listening to this on my shitty work computers. Listening in the car is an experience. There is no filler on this Thing at all.
stunning record, gotta agree with those who said this is instantly one of the best albums of the year.
"Every Night" is so astoundingly beautiful. I'm sorry for all the gushing. I'm out. Enjoy the weekend y'all.
