Penny & Sparrow

Wanted to start a thread for these guys that are from my hometown. Not sure how popular they are here but I feel pretty confident that at least a few of you will enjoy them.

Penny & Sparrow are an indie folk duo from Austin, Texas. Composed of Andy Baxter and Kyle Jahnke, their music is built around sparse instrumentation and beautiful harmonies. They released their third full-length, Let a Lover Drown You, this past March.

 

I need to spend more time with their new album. It's really good stuff. Are their first two albums worth checking out and how do they compare to the new one?

Haven't listened to the new album yet. Someone on here (probably in this thread) mentioned them in the Emotional Album Thread and I've been hooked on Struggle Pretty since then. Incredible record. "Serial Doubter," "Thunder," and "Honest Wage" are all ridiculously good.

Amazing. Also, how has this thread not been posted in for almost three years? Wendigo was a phenomenal album.

 

In case anyone hasn't heard their latest singles (new album out Aug. 2):

Both are great but Eloise is one of my favorite songs of 2019.

These guys do no wrong. Everything they put out is just breathtaking.

 

Pretty sure this is gonna be my AOTY. I can’t stop coming back to this

 

They put a live album on streaming services a few days ago. Pretty solid

 

New album Olly Olly is pretty great. These guys don't miss. Really love "Voodoo" and "Need You" especially.

 

I’m loving the new album, though I really need to dive into the lyrics. Haven’t had the chance yet.
