I never even watched the second season because they were advertising it as the first half of the season and I wanted to wait for the whole thing to be out, I didn't realize how fucking long it was taking for the "second half" until right now
30 seconds into the first of the new episodes and the kid getting made fun of for wearing Payless shoes hits way to close to home.
Yeah that stung. When I was in junior high the same year this show takes place, the boys in my gym class literally called me “Payless” because I lived in a single parent home, my family was poor, and those were the only shoes we could afford. This show really cuts me deep. I was the same age Anna is when my parents got divorced too and my god everything about her story resonates.
Hmmm not much reaction to the second part of season 2 on here. I've watched a few episodes of the new half season and came to the realization the show lost its spark for me. Maybe it will pick back up, I've watched 3 new episodes, but I found it kind of a chore to finish. I feel like the first season had so many more references from that time period that made me really love watching and looking forward to it.
Watching the last few episodes was way more emotional for me than I expected/wanted. I guess it’s not exactly the same show as it was from the start, but that’s the point IMO. This show is so much more than 90’s nostalgia. I really loved the last two episodes in particular but some of it was hard to watch. Anna’s arc also hits home for me. I’m going to miss this show a lot.
Yeah I was just told by another friend the last few episodes are heavy but really good. I legit said to her I think im not feeling the season yet because I havent cried yet this season haha.

Yep we just finished it. So good. Was really worried after not loving the first half of s2. The last ep in particular was just fantastic television.
