Finally finished this. I’ll miss it a lot. At first I thought having all the things that happened in those last two episodes go down right at the end of the show was a weird decision (the photo shoot, the blowjob, the creeper guy on the bus), but after discussing with my gf we kinda both came to the conclusion that events like those are what really separate your childhood from the next part of your life. Shit like that happens and suddenly the toothpaste just doesn’t go back in the tube. With that in mind there really couldn’t have been a better way to end the show.

I would say becoming less subtle about their perspective as adults kinda took me out of the show a couple times, but that girl from the church group calling Anna right out for “sounding like a 40 year old” was a very funny way to acknowledge they’re well aware that they sometimes said stuff that 13 year olds back then would never have said lol

 

So I watched and loved the first season of this back in 2019 when it came out but when they had announced that S2 was split in two I at the time decided to wait until both halves were out so I could binge it. Little did I realize just how long that gap would be, and because of that I just finally watched all of S2 (and rewatched the first for the first time since it came out) over the last couple days. What a phenomenal show this ended up being. Absolutely hilarious, really well directed and acted and completely devastating when it wants to be. I do respect the decision to end it, I like how it keeps the show contained to strictly 7th grade instead of inevitably moving on through school with the characters, but at the same time I would have absolutely loved more. I loved the finale but it also felt like it could have just been a season finale that led to more to me, though the last scene with them just tearfully telling each other how much they mean to each other was perfect and so heartwarming. Wish I didn't wait so long to watch the first half of the season but now I'm going to miss there being more. Hope they do a lot more projects together, they're a perfect duo
