Really hoping this album gives Bazan the attention his uniformly excellent solo material never quite got. These new songs are great, as expected.

 

I think I like Model Homes even more than Yellow Bike.

I'm trying to hang back from listening to them from here on.

 

I never listen to singles released before the record. I've ruined too many great records by developing a familiarity with certain songs before the album came out.

With the new Pedro stuff, I'm having a REALLY hard time not diving in!

Also, I appreciate a lot of small callbacks to other Pedro projects. Also small Nirvana reverence in the closer? I'm sure there are probably other stuff too.

 

I am very into this. I'm interested to dive into the lyrics more as well.

 

Saw the lyrics to the closer earlier, and the whole thing seemed to be references. Very excited to hear this album...I think it’s the start of a really interesting project for him.

He fucking delivered on this thing. So good.

 

heard "powerful taboo" and bought the vinyl.

 

That was really good. Feels like the best of Bazan solo and Pedro. Some growers but some hit me right away as freaking awesome.

 

I’m a big fan of the little breaks in the form of the shorter tracks throughout.

The opener sets the tone too. Desert in 1980s vibes.

Which color did you get?

I really like this on first listen. My Phoenix and Leaving the Valley are probably my favorite tracks, though I really love the three pre-release tracks, too.

 

“Circle K” is one I can’t shake after several listens. His use of that line from Winners Never Quit at the end makes the whole thing.
