A couple of things: How come nobody told me about Lo Tom until today? It's fantastic. Just picked up tickets for a Bazan/Michael Nau show in Pittsburgh. Love both artists. Life is great.
Seconded. Control was my entry point into David Bazan's career back in 2007 when I was in undergrad. Now I'm realizing that I need to own this on vinyl. So good.
HOLY FUCK. casiotone is god imo. i think it parallels alot with bazans newer stuff, but has a much more raw feel. Etiquette is the most critically acclaimed album. Twinkle Echo is my personal fav but it sounds pretty rough at times. I can't count the amount of walks i made to work in the frigidly snow covered mornings while listening to casiotone. one of the goats for sure imo
Absolutely no idea, I think it's so goofy and I love it. I think they didn't want to take the whole project too seriously and just have fun and thought it was funny. Yeah, I'm honestly surprised how much I love it, maybe even more than Care. Overboard is one of my favorite songs of the year and Lower Down is a good slow burner that just does it for me.
Seing Bazan & Michael Nau tonight. Looking forward to it. i would welcome him playing some Lo Tom songs and have been avoiding set lists to maintain the element of surprise.
Was supposed to go tonight, but work called in me in a few hours early. I guess I'll catch him as Pedro next year.
Control for Pedro the Lion and Curse Your Branches for solo. I personally prefer his solo output to Pedro, so listening through those four albums is definitely worth the time.
Tbh I think Control is the most accessible but starting w It's Hard To Find a Friend felt like a rewarding journey to me
