dance of the clairvoyants was best song they released in the last two decades. But now just reminds me of the pandemic. Poor Gigaton.
it's a really good episode so far, i was bummed at first it wasn't Hyden but Kevin Clark has been really good, I'm like 90 minutes in lmao they're still talking about Ten
ran through the discog this week, here's where im at vitalogy > vs. > yield > no code > ten > backspacer > binaural > avocado > dark matters > riot act > gigaton > lightning bolt
it might be a weird comparison but Upper Hand, especially the chorus melody and the solo, feels like it could be an Isbell song
Man, they were terrific at Fenway. I'm not usually impacted one way or another by the visuals bands have on the screen but "Wreckage" had this ocean scene and as the bridge built into that triumphant outro, the wave started to slowly break across these massive screens and every hair on my head and neck stood up.
i felt that way until i went to the sphere there HAS to be a plan for PJ to do a sphere residency, like cmon
I will say that one thing I loved is that while lots of bands try and throw in a bit of local color, they seemed to try to genuinely engage the culture of the city. Eddie dedicated a song to Howard Zinn and another to Tim Wakefield and his wife, after telling a great story about trying to hit the knuckleball once. He told a story before "In My Tree" about how he and Chris Cornell used to climb trees together in Lincoln Park in Seattle and get up high enough that the wind made the tree sway like a metronome, because the nickname of their favorite tree was the Green Monster. Mike had an Aerosmith shirt on and Jeff had a Larry Bird shirt that he then swapped out for a Tatum jersey. Like it wasn't just throwing "Boston" into one lyric instead of the original city name. Oh, and Jeff did a blink-and-you'd-miss-it lick from "Sweet Emotion" between songs
Guys, if all they did this year was release “Wreckage,” I think that would still make my top 10 releases of the year. That song should be on the radio for the next 40 years. The last 1:04 makes me want to run down a fucking dream.
Totally unexpected and also a bummer. But I totally respect his decision. I feel more grateful now I was able to catch him with PJ last year. I had just listened to an interview with him recently where he stated that he was happy that things were slowing down tour-wise for Pearl Jam since he and the guys were getting older. I wonder if he reconsidered and realized it was just time to step back completely
Did it look like new music or a tour or other? Though appreciate only 2 years since last album. I still consider anything after self-titled to be "newer" PJ but that's now 20 years ago!
