Yeah I'm not a fan of that song either, definitely very questionable to put something like that onto s recording.
Pearl Jam's 'Jeremy': The Untold Story of Video Star Trevor Wilson's Fascinating Life & Tragic Death A nice article about Trevor Wilson, who starred in the video for "Jeremy"
I went to see them in Barcelona last week and the KICKED ASS. What a concert, guys. 2h50min. of pure bliss. Alive, Corduroy, RVM, Jeremy, State of Love and Trust, Even Flow, Daughter, Hail Hail, Given to Fly, Nothing as it Seems, Lightning Bolt, Smile... it had everything. What a band.
I was only 6 when this happened so I don't remember it, but this didn't happen too far from me. Pretty cool. Here's Normandy High's Coverage of the Time Pearl Jam Played WMMS Personalities in a 1992 Charity Basketball Game
Also a pretty cool write-up as to why they were even playing Peabody's, which is a very small club in Cleveland, when they were already mega-stars. Turns out the show at Peabody's was supposed to happen in 1991 before they blew up but the band rescheduled the show because they got offered an opening slot of the RHCP/Smashing Pumpkins tour and rescheduled for 92 and still honored the small club show. Nice to see you guys digging it. Personally, I had a tough time getting through it. Need to give it another listen. I wasnt expecting Ten or Vs, but this was kind of a snore. Lightening Bolt was kind of a snore too, but had some gems. Gigaton surprised me and was different and I liked the vibe. This just went back to generic dad rock PJ
the rippers on this one are kinda eye-rolly but the more mid-tempo groove tracks (upper hand, waiting for stevie, closer) are really cool. also like the ones that feel like Petty tracks
I feel like Pearl Jam has always been better suited for mid-tempo or ballads vs fast rock songs. Listened once to the new one and liked it. Looking forward to spending more time with it.
well yeah, since avocado album on. i wouldn’t say always. their first few records are built off rippers that are still sustaining their career haha
Enjoying this so far. A couple misses, but I’m finding new things I like with each listen. Something Special has grown on me. Gives me Last Kiss vibes.
Just gave Dark Matter a spin, couple ok tracks (Waiting For Stevie, Dark Matter) but doubt I'll ever return to it. Never really been a big fan of much of their post-90s output though.
yeah last round "dance of the clairvoyants" and one or two others made it "onto the ipod" so to speak but none are coming aboard this time I don't think
