I finally just finished season 4, this show is so good. But I REALLY hope Alfie isn't actually dead. They seemed to make it a point to show he was shot through the cheek, I'm hoping he survived. Every scene with him is soooo good. also really hope Anya Taylor Joy isn't just another beautiful woman for Tommy to fuck
Recently started this show and I love that each season is only 6 episodes. Started season 3 last night and want to get through the rest of it this weekend. When new seasons come out, is it all just dumped on Netflix? Or is it still aired on BBC and then eventually ends up on Netflix? Not gonna read the rest of the thread since I haven't caught up.
I've gotten through seasons 1-3 over the last week, and S3 really irked me. Not so much the season's story itself, but seemingly how much we missed between 2 and 3. Like, did nothing ever happen with Sabinni? (maybe he comes back idk i havent seen S4 or 5 yet), but, you would think he would have wanted some significant revenge - also, like did I understand it correctly when they made some passing comment about how 'some people still think Grace's husband killed himself' - did they kill him? How did Grace and Tommy just go from where we left them at the race track in the S2 finale to getting married lol. There's a whole season missing. Also it was kind of weird to open S2 with Freddie's funeral? A seemingly important/main S1 character they just, wrote off? I didnt do any research so im not sure if maybe the actor just left the show but caught me very off guard lol An incredible show for sure, but some at times very head scratching story writing decisions
There are several whole seasons missing, and I've just accepted that must be part of the point. Each season tends to leap several years in the future from the last - a lot of that might have to do with the practicalities of filming. Couldn't just have Finn age 5 years overnight, for example (like in Ozark when Three is all of a sudden several years older and no time has passed in the plot). As well, the Freddie thing is likely a behind the scenes decision - maybe the actor had a contract dispute and wasn't going to be in season 2 period, so they had to write him out somehow.
I don't remember the time jumps really bothering me, but considering how outlandish the series and conflicts get, it makes much more sense to skip a couple years between each season so it's not insane conflict after insane conflict over the course of a year within the shows time. I didn't realize they announced S6 would be the final season, the creator had always said it would be 7 seasons. Can't wait to see how Tommy gets himself out of another impossible jam
Just posting on here as I've finished doing a shoot on Peaky Blinders as an extra. They gave me a little role next to Cillian which was neat! (Especially since I have no on-screen or TV experience prior this). Binged PB just beforehand and loved it, so grateful for the experience, and pretty excited to see how the show wraps itself up.
This is tragic, I had no idea. RIP, a legend. On a tangent that could probably/definitely be addressed another time: I wonder how they're going to address season 6, as it's already been filming for the last few months. I would've thought she'd already been on set up North somewhere, but apparently she died peacefully at home in London, so I wonder if production was aware of how she was doing, and already made arrangements to have the show continue possibly without her? I fucking love Aunt Polly, Helen will be missed.
Really thought this thread would have had a lot more activity. Amazing show that the wife and I are bingeing. Not sure we've reacted louder collectively to a moment in a show when Arthur comes back from the dead! haha Currently just started Series 5
There was a similar rise in undercut popularity when boardwalk empire came out but absolutely no match for when american dudes saw peaky blinders hah
