Scenes from next week feel like it's more for set up of the future of DCU than a finale of this seasons arc, but I could be wrong. I hope it's a satisfying end because it sounds like there may be no future plans for a season 3 and James might be putting these chatacters in other things
Im not convinced the Adrian that made it back isn't the Earth-X one. Just seems like a thing theyd do.
PEACEMAKER Season 2 Ending Explained By James Gunn; Has Season 3 Been Greenlit By DC Studios? - SPOILERS Short answer: No, but the two concepts introduced at the end: Checkmate and Salvation are not only important but important to the overall story of the wider DC Universe and apparently was part of Gunn's original pitch.
If there was 100% chance of a S3 then this would’ve been fine but knowing that’s not the case it’s not satisfying at all. Whole season felt rushed. Idc about the overarching DCU bs being in it. This was a pretty lame way to end this show.
I can't help but be curious what's driving these very negative reactions to a cliffhanger that is very clearly going to be followed up on. Is it just the fact that the cliffhanger exists at all?
He said if there was a Season 3 it would be different, but this is being followed up on anyway and clearly the whole cast is returning as Checkmate, so what's the difference?
A brief visit to Reddit feels like opinion is split between people satisfied that the episode resolved Chris' arc before setting up what comes next and are tentatively excited by the new developments, and people unsatisfied that Keith didn't return, that Gunn hyped the episode making them think there was some big guest spot, and/or just being annoyed that the episode ended on a cliffhanger setup instead of just ending the season and leaving it closed.
I think what we saw with Ads, Chris and Harcourt were great. It just didn't feel like a finale. I think there was too much hype about episodes 6-8 that the story of the characters gets lost or feels muzzled. Honestly would have rather stayed with Earth-X and the finale being Chris fighting Keith. The entire ARGUS searching for Salvation plot didn't need to take as much space as it did.
Its not really about cliffhangers or a lack of cameos for me. There were certain parts of this season that were just underdeveloped. We barely saw Chris's experience on Earth X which I wanted more of, there was a lack of screentime between Chris and the other 11th St Kids, Rick's full turn to a villain felt forced in the last ep as a few examples. Chris/Harcourt stuff was well done, Adebayo got time to shine, good jokes here and there. After the first 7 eps though I could tell I was most likely not going to get what I wanted at the end of the day.
Tbh the cliffhanger pissed me off in the same way the cliffhanger of Alien: Earth did lol it just isn't satisfying to have to wait for God knows how long
So are we saying they “Marvel Disney Plussed” this finale? Agree with the sentiment that this is fine if there’s a season 3. Or I could see a sub plot to a team up movie being like oh we need to get Peacemaker and bust him out. They didn’t really defeat anything in this season other than his demons. Which I get is the point but it also felt kinda rushed at the end. He wasn’t in that cursed mindset very long in terms of episode time.
Yeah I hope there is better explanation for Rick's behavior besides just revenge for Jr. Feel like we saw that in Chris' prison beating.
They should have stayed in Earth-X longer and shown a bigger fight between Chris and Keith. Honestly the portal hopping was fun, but I feel like a lot of could have been Luthor's team saying they found one that fits and thats Salvation. I just kept checking the time left and being confused.
