I feel like him releasing anything but new music is pretty expected these days

 

He did confirm at some point he’s releasing new music right? Am I remembering that correctly?

 

looks like Michael's doing a solo project of some sort

 

I actually just joined his sub stack and there's SO much material, I downloaded a lot of it but haven't listened yet. Some really intriguing things

A lot of weird confusing things but also a lot of demos and alternate takes and such, haven't listened yet but I've put everything in a playlist.

still upset this record never got a vinyl release. have fond memories of getting a pre-release copy because of a Twitter campaign he did.

 

I'll admit I barely can keep up or understand, but from what I can tell, Nine Times Your Torch Song is a 99-song demo archive that is being released only to his sub stack

 

And through a specific app? Disappointing.

hearing mixed (more bad) things about his recent shows as well. Seems like he just fucks around, rambles and experiments for like two hours, which could be cool but seems fucked to charge your fans to watch you figure it out

 

yeah the PP reddit ended up on my feed and I saw several posts about fans leaving after 40+ minutes and saying it was horrible

 

Leaving the substack? It's chaotic, but I try to just look at the posts with music and nothing else

I know I’m preaching to the choir here, but I wish Michael would do at least one more proper album. Tremendous Sea of Love was good, but I think it is kinda half baked just by nature of how he put it out. Manners, Gossamer, and Kindred are all still regularly in rotation over a decade later.

 

Loved Ryn's album from forever ago, glad to see she isn't totally out of music. Would actually get a plane ticket to one of these shows if it was feasible right now. Both of these artists have been on my show bucket list forever.
