It's highly unlikely, given their penchant for sci-fi and historical stuff, but I'd love to see an Oscar nom for Production Design for this.
I finally saw this last night. Joon-ho constantly delivers, this might be his best film yet too. Had chills for a good chunk of the end of the film. Definitely gonna be hard to top this year.
I still have to go see Jojo Rabbit and The Lighthouse but im still finding myself wanting to go see this again instead.
yeah, this is still unbeatable. had a skype q&a w/ bong (and a translator) that went over really well considering it was barely a half hour long.
This was amazing. I heard it was good, but knew nothing about the plot. This is for sure in my top five of the year.
I literally said out loud “I need a break” after the credits rolled and had to compose myself before leaving the theater.
Amazing. This was spectacular. I did wonder like 3 times in the last 20 minutes “okay is it ending now?”, it felt longer than it was towards the end, but that’s not really a complaint. I loved it.
This and Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood were both the most I've laughed in a theater and the most gripped I've been in a movie theater this year.
Also - (ending spoilers) Had a stray thought that Ki-Woo’s involuntary laughter at the end is a more plausible, interesting origins to a Joker story than “Joker.”
the order is kinda fluid right now but the top 5, while admitting there is still a lot i have to see over the next two months, is some combination of ad astra, the farewell, midsommar, OUATIH, and parasite
1. Parasite 2. Peanut Butter Falcon 3. The Farewell 4. Hustlers 5. The Last Black Man in San Francisco Honorable mention: Booksmart
I'm very much torn between this and Lighthouse for movie of the year. Both are masterpieces in their own way that I honestly think belong right near the top of a best of the decade list.
