I don’t know how much more wide it’s going to get. It’s already came & left my local AMC theater (which also happens to be one of the top 15 in the country)
I mean I gotta imagine it’s gonna come back around closer to the Oscars though...this thing is gonna be in discussion for the next three months.
Still hasn’t come to my local regal yet, it’s been about an hour away at the Alamo and indie theater out there
Second viewing was even better than the first. Picked up on a lot of stuff I missed the first time including Mr. Park saying "the only problem with the old housekeeper was she ate enough for two"
Oh boy I loved it so much. Our theater had about 30 people in it and that made me so happy. I’ve seen far more mainstream films with way fewer at this place. And everyone was really into it so that made for an awesome experience. I tried really hard to avoid reading anything about it so I was completely on the edge of my seat wondering where we were heading and that shifted so many times without ever feeling like a note was out of place. The only thing I’m let down about is that I don’t know if I’ll be able to see it again before it leaves the theater.
Caught that the minute he said it and I knew we were in for heartbreak but I did NOT see the specifics coming.
Did a google search for showtimes cause I wanted to go see this tonight and one of those “People also ask” things came up and literally the first question was Why does Kim kill Park Parasite. Whyyyyy would that be at the top of the page like that. Still gonna go see it obviously but damn, fuck google right now
Alright, that spoiler wound up not making that much of a difference at all. Fuck, this movie ruled and I’m so happy I got to check it out in the theater. Should not have slept on it this long
I wonder how it feels being Jordan Peele knowing that he put in all that work and managed to only create the second best thriller about wealth divide where the poor people live literally underground and come up to kill the rich in 2019
Still thinking about this. I'm still enthralled at how it shifts tone and sympathies so easily without seeming jarring at all. In particular, I can't stop thinking about the tension living room scene when they're just drinking and shooting the shit and the flood scene. The flood scene is absolutely crushing.
What about the biggest laugh? I think my theater just exploded when he picked up the "bloody" tissue from the trash bin.
Oof, this feels so lazy. It's so focused on nitpicks (which focus on really unimportant details). And that last paragraph feels like the person formed an opinion based off a plot synopsis instead of actually watching the movie. I'd say the film actively works to shift our sympathies away from the Kim family and towards the Park family at the mid-point before going back toward the Kim's.
This whole scene she crushed it. My theater let out a good laugh when she criticized Ki-woo for reading the diary and then immediately started reading it herself
My theater laughed a lot, but I’m struggling to remember any specific moments that haven’t been said already. The only time I was put off by laughing was when they were hiding under the table and he started talking about the smells of people. My heart was breaking and everyone else was howling.
I think the biggest laugh in my theater was when Ki-taek is practicing his speech about the housekeeper having TB.
