BNE was one of the first albums I ever received in the mail as a preorder. I remember I got it before all my friends in the cul-de-sac and we listened to Careful while the rest was burned off the CD onto iTunes. Absolutely insane that it has been that long.
BNE was the album that got me into music. I remember mindlessly flicking through channels on the couch and seeing Careful on MTV for the first time. It blew me away. I thought it was the coolest thing I've ever seen. I became obsessed with the band immediately. I'm 25 now with a degree in both Music and Communication and I'm certain that without that brief coincidence of being at the right place at the right time, I'd probably be in a different field. Without music, I wouldn't have generated the ambition to talk about the things that move me and thus, never discover my passion for communication. I would've never discovered how much I adored writing and expressing myself if I never posted album reviews into the Tumblr void as a teenager. I wouldn't have made my own music and lyrics, which has become one of my healthiest and profound coping mechanisms and methods of relieving stress. I don't give this album enough credit on the day to day, but man, this album definitely helped me discover who I am. Thank you, Paramore. Happy belated 12th!
Same here. I think I still go back and forth on which one is my favorite, though. Careful is one of my favorite Paramore songs for sure
For some reason, I always associate this album with the unplugged performance they did to promote it. I've watched it way too many times. I even prefer that version of Brick By Boring Brick over the original.
Ignorance is a top 10 song for me. That build up and furious, frantic opening to Careful is also a top-tier album opener moment too.
