Omg I also forgot to say that aside from after laughter I've committed music blasphemy and explored their back catalog on shuffle while on repeat a ton until I familiarized so I didn't listen to the albums like individually in track list sequence for a long time and some I still haven't listened to in correct order

I appreciate some of these older albums getting rereleases, but do they all have to be silver? Unless you add some metallic swirls it’s just... grey

Agreed, could of been a solid collection to have if they made them look better/anniversary special covers etc.

 

so whose burner account is this? forgot we weren't allowed to be disappointed by bands these days without being accused of trying to cancel them, as if cancel culture actually existed.

 

I'm glad I'm not crazy, first seeing this I thought "this seems....weirdly not great from them?" but I'm not a working artist so I wasn't sure if that was a commonly held view

 

Same. I'm not an artist so I'm not sure what the going price for this sorta thing is, but giving someone a relative pittance of $500 and then earning likely multiple thousands of $ from that, feels not quite right.

 

Top-notch designers can charge $200-$500 per hour. I’m not elite or that great by any means so I never charge that high, but there is an exploitative element of generating an excessive amount of free labor under the guise of a contest. A lot of things like this either A) are just that, and rely on you doing something because you love the artist, or B) are formulated without knowing about how designers and artists are often handled in the creative industry. This stuff sucks.

 

I agree it’s not a great look and something they need to walk back. I also think they probably had good intentions and genuinely did not consider the implications of this kind of thing. It’s probably something the label or management suggested and the band was like “sure” without thinking it through. Hayley has been good about apologizing for shit in the past so I’m hoping they’ll see the criticism and change course.
