I don’t think I’ve ever been as excited for an album as I was for BNE. I remember the instrumental version of Careful (from the DVD that came with the deluxe) leaked online a week early and I had that on repeat nonstop. Album blew me away. I cried the last time I saw them...think that was 2010.
Maybe tied for "technically best" with s/t in terms of musical chops, tightness, Hayley's vocals and I guess people die over the lyrics. Production obviously great .But it's not my favorite album from them.
After Laughter and S/T are their only great albums imo. I just can’t/could never get into anything pre- S/T, with the exception of Misery Business and That’s What You Get
S/T is such a mix bag. The highs are high, for sure. But it doesn’t hit good enough to be as long as they make it.
I need to spend more time with After Laughter. It still feels like it came out yesterday for some reason. S/T is my favorite despite the fillers.
I found it funny that the chorus feature had AL as the best of the decade, yet it wasn't for me and they're my favorite band, heh. It's S/T > BNE > Riot! > AL = AWKIF for me (i know i know, bad take, sorry) They're all amazing though, and that's why Paramore are #1.
I mean, those are fine. Also they don’t carry an album. also they just go on to write much better songs.
I honestly don’t know how someone can like Paramore and think their first album has their best songs.
I don't necessarily think they have their best songs, just better songs than AL and S/T :) Let The Flames Begin, Careful, and All I Wanted are probably my favorites. But as far as AWKIF, Emergency is probably the only song that's really up there with my favorites
