I listened to Paramore's discography on a five hour drive today and I have a hot take: every album is better than the one before it. AWKIF is obviously their weakest and After Laughter is their best. BNE and S/T are both masterpieces and have been my favorites at different times, but I truly think AL is the best they've ever done. I also never realized how much personal meaning I ascribe to Paramore songs but hearing them all in order today was a huge trip down memory lane. There are few bands who mean more to me, and sometimes I forgot that because of how sporadically active they are plus the fact that they rarely play the Northwest, but they're flat out the greatest band.
This was a good read. I think every point - whether I agreed with it or not - was interesting and thoughtful.
This thing is a real treat. I've enjoyed various songs from Paramore, probably enjoying Brand New Eyes most overall prior to this, but this is the first record of theirs I've loved as a complete work and is definitely in my top 5 for the year so far.
This one has easily vaulted into the Top 3 for me this year. Think I only put Menzingers in front of it so far. Pretty surprising since I've never been into Paramore that much. Tell Me How reminds me so much of Tegan & Sara and I love it.
I never considered myself a big paramore fan, but hot damn I'm loving this new album. A total change of sound, and I dig it.
Man, RIOT! brings back so many memories. I graduated from high school that Spring and my dad was working at Hot Topic so he got me a copy of the album a week early. My grandma died that summer and Miracle hit me like a ton of bricks -- it's still probably my favorite song on the album. What a freaking record.
There are some setlists on setlist.fm already, so either it leaked or someone is fucking around on there.
I was sooo hyped for it after Hard Times. Don't think I've made it through the full thing more than once since. Really, severely disappointed. I'm currently giving it space and I'm going to try again in a few weeks, see if anything clicks.
It's definitely my favourite. With all the other releases there's at least half the tracks that I don't think are that great. With this one I think I like them all. (I do have the hardest time with Idol Worship though). There have been some amazing standout tracks on the other albums (ie. Ain't It Fun, Part II from the self-titled) but this one is cohesive and I feel like I can enjoy it from back to front easily. Having said that, if they'd gone even more in the direction of the two singles I think I would have loved this album.
I don't think I like this as much as their last two yet but I think it's another great album from them.
on the fence on whether or not it beats out bne for me, but its top notch nonetheless. its definitely the most relatable to me right now
Album never really grew on me, too many songs I just straight up don't like. Side note, it's funny to me.... this "Paramore" thread seems to be a safe space for people to voice their dislike of the album outside of the album thread
