Cool interview. https://www.nytimes.com/2017/04/19/...er-laughter-interview.html?smid=tw-share&_r=0 "Paramore, somehow, pulled it off again. On May 12, the band will release “After Laughter,” its fifth LP, introducing another lineup — each Paramore album has featured a different combination of members around Ms. Williams — and, more notably, a new sound. Instead of the meaty, distorted power chords and hyperactive riffs of its adolescence, Paramore has dipped into cleaner, more rhythmic and synth-kissed textures of the ’70s and ’80s, owing to recent obsessions with Talking Heads, Tom Tom Club, Cyndi Lauper and Blondie."
Neat thing i noticed when preordering the album is that i get a free download of Hard Times and another when it's available, which means we're getting another new song before the record drops.
Not the biggest fan of the art direction, but I dig the single. Also, I really love this album roll out timeline. This is the way to do it!
Song is fun. There's something 80s Pop about it. Haley's singing in the verses reminded me of someone, but I couldn't remember who exactly.
"Hallelujah" was just a one-off. I think the proper single, "Victorious" came out in August? September? Still a while before the album came out in January.
Well yeah, sorry. I misspoke: I meant it in the sense that it was just a single to release a song. Then it eventually showed up on an album. But the album wasn't anywhere near done.
I think it's a smart move to release an album a few weeks after announcing it. Especially since they have already built up a fan base and it seems to be a move more artists/bands are taking now. I personally have never liked the release a single and announce a album that comes out 3 months + later format.
I agree, I think they teased us for long enough. I loved how they dropped the track the way they did (with the profile picture changes and such). Now that I know the album is within reach it's got me pretty hyped, I think I would have been disappointed to hear I had to wait any longer.
Alright ive listened to the self titled, where should i go now? (Also could any real hardcore fan give me a list of songs?)
Damn, IDK if I want to listen to that. I want the most unheard music possible on release date. Don't think I can do it though.
Off the top of my head I would listen to these: Playing God, Brick by Boring Brick, Misguided Ghosts, All I Wanted, Hello Cold World
If I had to pick my fave songs to introduce someone to Paramore (minus S/T since you already listened): -Escape Route -Let the Flames Begin (live w/ outro) -My Heart (I prefer the acoustic, but if you liked 06 screamo, album version) -For a Pessimist, I'm Pretty Optimistic -Careful -Whoa -All I Wanted -Miracle -Turn It Off -Misguided Ghosts -Renegade
