Surely you can see why though, right? It sounds like nothing else they've ever done and is just straight forward radio bubblegum pop with corny love lyrics. It just plays everywhere, in so many stores, that it got old so quick.
I can understand getting burned out on them, but Still Into You and Ain't It Fun are incredible songs. After Laughter supremacy for me though.
After Laughter, Brand New Eyes and This is Why is the easy top 3 for me. Self Titled has some top tier songs for sure but its a bit bloated IMO. I've been listening to that album for over 10 years and I swear there are still song titles I look at and have no memory of how they sound.
yeah i've always been on team "self titled is too long." if they had not put in all those interlude songs, that would have helped, from what i can recall. it's been a long time since i've put that album on.
I don't know what I'd cut from self-titled but I know it's not the interludes. For an hour-long, 17-track album, I think it kind of flies by.
One of my most prized possessions is the Interludes EP they released for Record Store Day. Sellsfor a decent amount, but I'll never part ways with it. After Laughter, BNE, Self-titled are my top three.
The only song on there I'd be ok with losing is Be Alone and even that's a fun song. It's their longest, most diverse and most consistent album for me. I love it dearly.
Is there like a sped up radio version of crave that they use for stores? I was at Best buy and recognized it but also didn't
Uhh if so that's really weird haha. Not like customers really give a shit what's playing for the staff to need to speed up songs
Maybe I just remember it wrong. The official audio on YouTube also sounds too fast. I must be going crazy
"Ain't It Fun" >>>>> "Still Into You". we have a lot of love songs but we don't have enough "welcome to reality motherfucker" songs
I got burnt out on Still Into You and Ain't it Fun when they got bulk radio play back in the day. Now there's enough distance between that and I can appreciate them for the great songs they are. Self-titled album is their best btw.
i don't think i ever liked (or particularly strongly disliked) ain't it fun but i definitely got sick of it being overplayed still into you always a bop tho
Real talk I hope people know that I'm not like upset that they like Ain't It Fun and Still Into You heh they just aren't for me. Ain't It Fun can catch me on a good mood, though
Dude I mostly online shop and get curbside groceries, but I swear I still hear Still Into You in a store at least once or twice a year minimum
I much prefer “ain’t it fun” and question the love for “still into you” the same way I much preferred crushcrushcrush and questioned the love for “that’s what you get.” Possibly an insanely unpopular take, and i enjoy a good pop song as much as anyone, but the 2 bigger singles in each comparison always just felt so bland and cloying compared to their respective massive-but-ultimately-less-enduring counterparts to me.
If they ever top After Laughter which to me is their magnum opus I would just lose my mind. But I feel like I can't even compare this is why to it or any other future album they release cause that's not fair. That's just a perfect album and I don't expect bands to deliver perfect albums every time. I don't think any of my fave artists even have a catalog I'd consider perfect
As far as “I want to put a Paramore song on and sing along at the top of my lungs” it’s my number one for sure I could make an argument for basically every song on After Laughter too
the only candidates for "best paramore song" I recognize are Part II, Figure 8 and That's What You Get.
