honestly might be my fav song here! really tough choice bc I love every song to what feels like the fullest extent possible. at the very least, it is my pick for the best chorus on the record.
I never said I wasn't petty, you can bet I don't regret it for a second, it’s a pleasure, it's a reckoning
hey i'm gonna be there too! if you hear anyone else scream singing that song, it'll be me. hi in advance!
Liar is the only one I’m not completely in love with, but thats only because Figure 8, Crave, and Thick Skull are my top 3, so it “interrupts” the flow
I enjoy Liar and Crave both a lot, I need to give this another full listen because I’ve only been listening to a few songs at a time the last few days
Liar is just so ethereally gorgeous, it puts me in a very particular mood where I just want to melt right into it, and I think it has the most affecting backstory behind it of all the songs on the record. actually the feeling I get listening to it is kinda similar to the one I get from some of the tracks off Painless by Nilüfer Yanya, one of my favorite records to come out in recent years (tho by no means is it like a 1:1 sonic comparison it’s def more of a feeling based thing). particularly this song: idk just very entrancing stuff to me.
I don’t live there anymore, but in case either of you (or anyone else going) want some recommendations on stuff to do/places to go while you’re there, I’ve left a pretty substantial list in the Phoenix thread Phoenix Thread • Page 7 • forum.chorus.fm
With a prior comment about how this record is less a deviation than AL was. Most surprising thing going back through their discography is how well this sits with previous records. First listen couldn't imagine there being a hit from this, but now I can totally see "Running Out of Time" and "You First" tearing up the airwaves.
Man, Hayley's vocals were really on point on Kimmel. She has a great lower range. Best TV performance from them during this album cycle for sure
