i had that, as well. Which is very funny to me. Sorry, we made the screen too small. Buy more from us to fix it. we are old, my dude. C’est comme ça.
I like the album but I have mixed feelings about it. I had low expectations coming in since I wasn’t a big fan of any of the songs they released before the album dropped but after listening to it 3 times now I really like most of the songs outside of 2 or 3 of them. I think overall it’s a good album but would probably rank it last in terms of Paramore albums. I’m not sure how much I will come back to it and not sure if I’m in the mood to listen to Paramore I see myself picking this album over all the other previous ones.
I would listen to This Is Why over All We Know and Self titled with zero hesitation. The rest is yet to be determined.
Did a discogs run this weekend and I think for me it’s: S/T > Brand New Eyes > This Is Why > After Laughter > Riot > All We Know is Falling
i’m not afraid of this Brand New Eyes After Laughter Riot This is Why Paramore All We Know is Falling
all right my ranking of every paramore song is dropping get ready 1. proof 2. everything else in some order
If this doesn’t end up as my favorite Paramore album, it will bare minimum be top three. AWKIF does absolutely nothing for me outside of a few songs, and Riot! and S/T have always had a couple sticky points for me that TIW just doesn’t seem to.
Not sure if I could rank a top 10 for Paramore tracks but if I did? Pretty sure (in no particular order) Be Alone, Hate To See Your Heart Break, Where The Lines Overlap, and Hallelujah would be in there. I could also see Figure 8 making its way in there too. What an absolute banger.
Seriously no disrespect to anyone not feeling this, opinions and all, but I’m so baffled this isn’t being unanimously praised. It’s firing on all cylinders for me, I love the lyrics, the vocals, the instrumentation, and the entire vibe. Kind of feels like the record they’ve been trying to get to since self titled, and they finally nailed down how to pull it off
I had only listened to This Is Why (the single) which felt like a great progression and expansion of the After Laughter vibe. I was kind of expecting them to lean into that a lot more, particularly referencing Bloc Party in pre-release interviews. In the end, I’m actually hearing a lot of Brand New Eyes on this, particularly choruses like You First. There’s some really nice vocal moments that remind me of Hayley Williams’ solo records towards the end too. Overall, a really solid and enjoyable release. It’s not without flaws and I would have loved something that was a little more like After Laughter, but it’s cool for them that they’ve combined everything from their past a bit more. Don’t think it will top After Laughter but excited to digest it for the rest of the year.
