Really enjoyed this on first listen. Feels quite similar in places to her last solo record, but just on a bigger scale, whereas that could be quite restrained.
i thought the pfork reading of “the news” was p facile, like it isn’t offering any “answers” bc the song is about being caught in a feedback loop
Love how strong these sing intros all are This first listen has me restarting most of the tracks just to hold onto the excitement of hearing these for the first time
This is fucking awesome lol I feel like the people not digging it maybe hopped off the Paramore train pre-After Laughter, which is right when I hopped on
Everyone really is firing on all cylinders here. Hayley sounds so good, the production is super nuanced, and the guitars have such a punch to them
That’s how I am. I love the most recent 3 albums and Hayley’s solo stuff. There’s a handful of songs on BNE I enjoy but the stuff before it is just not for me.
I thought pfork was mean about the lyrics but ultimately I do agree that Hayley's political speeches and comments (thinking of her speech at WWWYF particularly) have been more poignant than the political lyrics here. The News is a perfectly serviceable song lyrically but it doesn't rise above that for me. Thank god it has some of my favorite verse instrumentation and melodies on the whole record.
i love every paramore record but it’s really correct to argue that this band only came into their own with bne. ever since they’ve been making top to bottom classics still i need to say that “miracle” is a perfect song
Upon first listen, I think this is really good. After I finish giving that Rebecca Black album yet another spin, I’ll do this one again.
Wasn't sure what to expect cuz I missed almost every single release and didn't pay attention I enjoy this a lot I'm very happy That's my commentary very in depth I know
Has anyone come around on C'est Comme Ça after not liking it? That is the one song on this I just can't get into, everything else is good to great.
Genuinely surprised how much I like this. I liked a handful of tracks off of their last two albums but haven’t connected with an album of theirs this much since Brand New Eyes. Haven’t really listened to Paramore all that much since 2011, I’ve got a feeling this album will change that. Absolutely loved my first listen.
I'm definitely liking it more than I did on first listen, it's just so repetitive it gets tiring fast.
Paramore's Hayley Williams reveals she wants to play shows with band Shame As my GF listens to this in the living room on the speaker you can "kinda" hear some Talking Heads influence and how it double reenforces how a show with Paramore / Shame would rip.
"thick skull" has that failure influence they were talking about pre-release also reminds me of "just a lover" off flowers for vases a bit too dope song
