Pretty cool album overall. After one listen my only critique is that a lot of it kinda sounds/feels the same, which is obviously the point in a sense, but it'll take some more listens to really get a hold of what's going on here
Zane does such a good job at these interviews. Can’t really think of anyone else who is able to get artists to open up in such a vulnerable way and seem so authentic with them. Has me even more excited to listen!
I find it so strange that people are comparing it to PFA as a negative comparison, that album is incredible. Haven't heard yet but excited for my first listen tonight! The only track I didn't quite love at first was CCC, but I only heard it once so it hasn't had a chance to grow on me. The other two are great, even with some mixing issues on The News. Feels good to be getting new Paramore.
PFA is my favorite album that Hayley ever made (including Paramore) so I’m definitely hyped to hear this tonight
That had to be one of the best interviews I’ve ever seen. Seeing how open all four of them were about their insecurities and having that dialogue during the interview was just incredible. Gained a lot of respect for Taylor from this too. I hope we get Zane interviews for the rest of their career, cause each one is better than the last.
the only thing i didn't like about petals for armor was that it was too spread out stylistically, made it hard to focus on the good songs when they were happening. this album by contrast is very consistent, spooky, atmosphere pouring through the spiky guitar lines like fog through trees i don't find them very similar at all tbh
The comparison is really only being made cause it doesn't sound like "classic" Paramore IMO. That said, I wouldn't be surprised if people who weren't into PFA aren't into this
That's why the three EP release format made sense to me. I think of them like that when I listen to the record.
Listening to this right now on my plane to Phoenix to see them tonight with Bleachers. Like it so far, but doesn’t top AL for me. Also huge to shoutout to whoever mentioned the drip drop website as I’ve been looking for one ever since the kingdom fell.
I tried giving Taylor a fist bump through the computer screen when he said that lyrics are the very last thing he pays attention to in a song because that's the way I am too. He's still leaving me hanging on that fist bump and my arm's getting tired.
I'm listening to the album now with a VPN and yes this is really something I am enjoying greatly. I say this as someone who also has a PFA-inspired tattoo.
I know what Paramore used to sound like but the only album I ever really gave the time of day was After Laughter. We’ll see how often I revisit this, but I think it’s extremely good. Very cool sound they have going on here.
