The guitar work on this record is fantastic. The second half of this is where it went from good to incredible territory for me.
there's some stuff on this I'm not love with, some overly repetitive vocal melodies mainly, but on the whole it whips. Figure 8 was my instant highlight, that's like the archetypal Paramore jam right there
just based on one listen on my drive to work, this is probably the most a paramore record will have to grow on me but goddamn i can't get enough of thick skull right now.
as I thought based on the singles this isn't really the kinda Paramore album for me. nothing really does it for me that much. I'll spend some time with it though and hopefully it'll grow on me.
My Target vinyl shipped. Please get here before the weekend! Avoiding the leak, but that Zane interview has got me so hyped.
the drums on liar prove once again that Zac farro is one of the absolute best groovers on the planet so subtle, but precise. one of my favorite grooves from him
The alternate "she's running out of time" melody Hayley does starting from the second chorus of Running Out Of Time is the stuff of heavens. I've never heard a dance-punk song sound so dreamy at the same time?
Unpopular opinion, but after a full listen it's pretty clear this album isn't for me unfortunately. The album's sound bleeds into PFA too much for my taste. Happy for them though.
after a few listens, can't see myself coming back to this a whole lot outside of This Is Why. Musicianship on display is impressive, but I find the whole thing a bit of a drag and kinda dull. Maybe more time with it is needed but my hot take pre release ranking is this is bottom of their discography very comfortably.
